05 March 2005 - We've added a bunch of new links to the press releases concerning 24h Marathon, including the brand new article in Gazeta Uniwersytecka. Also Mr Scott McCloud himself mentioned about us on his personal website!

About the Marathon
From 8.00 a.m. to 8.00 a.m., 24 hours in front of the easel! Challenge your creativity in the extreme conditions, free your mind, help your muse, face the inspiration. Paint 12 paintings in 24 hours - it's as much as 2 hours per painting! No arranged still life, no life models, no limits except for the time, only you and your visions.

On 19th of February 2005, 29 creators challenged themselves and stayed 24 hours in the University walls to paint almost 300 paintings. "We just wanted to show art students and our friends what they can do, how much passion for art they have inside them and how beautifull things they can create when their mind is bounded with the time limits. When you paint 24 hours your brain tries to handle this new situation and shows you the solutions you couldn't probobly find without this stimulation. Suddenly your ideas are more straightforward, more daring and your work starts to surprise yourself." say the creators.

The idea for this Marathon came from the American comic creator and theorist - Mr Scott McCloud, who's 24 Hour Comic inspired three art students at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, Poland. The three girls - Anna Altmajer, Julia Górniewicz and Katarzyna Kołakowska decided to adapt the idea and make it appealing in their hometown and University. Julia Górniewicz has made a 24 hour comic before and she told Anna and Katarzyna about how amazing experience it was.

On 24th of February 2005 all Marathon participants arranged an exhibition in the University's Gallery and decided to sell the paintings on the charity auction at the Exhibition Opening. Almost 80 paintings has been sold and the gathered funds were given to the authorities of the Kindergarten for children with disabilities for the renovation of the flooded building.

We have created this website to let people know about us and our actions and maybe inspire them to show their passions to the world and help others. We have prepared the photos from the Marathon and the Exhibition, the selection of our paintings and some important information about the Marathon. Feel free to browse through this website and in case of any comments or questions - contact us.
